Product reviews

As I post about different types of products and baby items used, I will be reviewing/talking about the items for the benefit of future/current parents looking to get the best for their babies.

Product #1: Huggies!

Huggies is pretty popular where I'm from and by default ended up being my first choice. The newborn Huggies was pretty neat as it had a wetness indicator on the outside of the pampers that let's you know when your little one needs a nappy change! One common error most newbie baby care givers make, is they just open the pamper and throw it on and boom! "pampered baby!!"

No! That's not how it goes, you're suppose to OPEN it out properly by stretching out the frills and ensure it's fully opened to look like a pamper and not a "loincloth". Yes, I did this for the first pamper change till I decided that seemed very wrong, lol.

Also, a little tip with the changing diaper. Newborns usually pee pee or poop VERY often, so you may want to always keep a pamper or changing pad under his/her little bum until they are safely secured back into a pamper. My sister-in-law didn't listen to my advice and got peed on!

And for the boy babies, make sure and aim his 'tolie' downwards inside the pamper to avoid escaping pee when pampered. Petroleum jelly after cleaning is also useful in preventing diaper rashes. Diaper rashes is caused by a chemical reaction between the pee pee and poop so regular diaper changes, proper hygeine and constant care will prevent this headache! Small man only got a diaper rash once and that was because I chose to sponge him off one day and not bathe him!

Huggies wipes are really handy in the diaper changing process! At this age, if you're skillful enough, one wipe can do the trick! But if you're not, don't sacrifice you're baby's cleanliness for your budget. It's better to spend the extra for proper care than doctor bills later on. When you're using the wipes, they might be a bit cold, so you may want to warm it between your hand palms before using it on your baby's bum to reduce your baby's discomfort and resistance to diaper changing time.

For newborns, I recommend non-scented, hypoallergenic wipes (same goes for any products coming into contact with your baby's skin) to avoid the potential of any sort of skin reactions from your baby.

Finally, with all Huggies products, there is the opportunity to gain points (code hidden inside packaging) where you can redeem on their website for cool products and merchandise. To date, I have redeemed all my points and donated it to a charity foundation  Huggies supports called "Every Little Bottom". It's a charity that helps American Moms in need of clean pampers for their babies. Although I'm from Trinidad & Tobago, I see it as an opportunity for me to help a less fortunate Mom and baby in need somewhere in the world. I think you should consider it too, check out the Huggies website to learn more about this charity and Huggies products.
