Although Small Man is like nearly
16mths already. I'm going to start with stories from since before he was born.
I had a really tough pregnancy
where I was in panick mode and hiding from everyone while I try to figure out
what my future as a Mom would be like. I didn't take much care of myself during
the pregnancy, and didn't take the pre-nathal supplements and was always on my
feet, lifting, bending and doing all the pregnancy DONT's we all as parents
know about.
Apart from the fact that I had
swollen elephant size feet, a small belly but everything else (legs, arms,
thighs etc etc) got huge, my spine was ready to give out as it seems as though
he was growing in my back and my insatiable cravings for chewing rubber bands
and ice. My pregnancy was overall a great success! Only at the good grace of
God!
At 7mths, on the day before he was born my water bag started leaking. I was unsure what was happening but had just
moved into my new apartment by myself and was still cleaning and packing etc.
It was the next morning when I decided to go to the hospital. I then started
getting really weak that I could barely hold up myself. After review it was
noted that the baby was in distress and emergency c-section was recommended.
Had a lot of mixed feelings about this but I did it anyways. He was born that
afternoon at 5lbs 12oz with pneumonia. I had a rough time recovering from
surgery but was up and crouching around by the next day to meet my bundle! My
heart sank to see him connected to those wires and needles, oxygen mask and in
this secluded looking incubator but also a warmth came over me when he looked
at me.
The pneumonia was
cleared up by two days later and both baby and I was happy to go home. Apart from
the pneumonia and his tiny size, he was an overall perfect and wonderfully
healthy baby boy!
